Creating a sweet brand for an Etsy-based candy company.
This was a very fun project in which I got to do everything from creating the logo/brand to creating the shipping packaging, setting up a social marketing channel, and even getting my hands dirty with some candy photo shoots!
An out-of-this world brand for a sweet business.
The Brand
The goal here was to create a logo/brand that related to the sci-fi source material but at the same time felt like a grounded, home-made product from a real person… while also showcasing the candy itself! The result is a friendly soft logo built from the Aptly font and sheared to be reminiscent of the movie’s title crawl. Hand-drawn backgrounds of stars create a space setting that was grounded and friendly, and the whole thing is brought together by some friendly illustrations of the candy fillings and some warm photography.
Social
Star Treat’s differentiator from it’s competitors is the wide array of fillings inside the chocolates. In order to focus on these I created a system showcasing illustrations of the fillings front and having messaging centered on those as well. I added a simple grain texture over the illustrations and text to bring more of that homemade feel to these designs as well.
The Photo Shoot
Knowing that photography of the chocolates would be an important part of this shop, I made sure the photo shoot could focus again on the differentiator of the company. Each of the photos features piles of the fillings in the background to really highlight what makes these special. I use have a combination of the sci-fi and homey feel here as well, bringing in a worn wooden cutting board as the base, then using a starry space cloth as the shoot’s background.
